The Cebu Coast Guard Station noted a  surge of passengers at different ports in Cebu City yesterday for the observance of All Saints and All Souls Day this weekend.

As of 5 p.m. yesterday, Cebu Coast Station Commander Agapito Bibat said they  recorded 26,215 outbound passengers, which is more than the  20,000 outbound passengers recorded the day before.

Bibat said he expects the number to increase today, the eve of All Saints’ Day.

The bulk of sea travelers are headed for  Bohol, Dumaguete City and other parts of Eastern Visayas.

So far, Bibat said the situation is manageable and there was no untoward incident .

Bibat said their personnel, with those from the Cebu Port Authority and Maritime Industry Authority, are also manning the passenger help desks at the different ports.

Aside from the port police, authorities are also deploying K9 dogs at the ports.
