THE Netherlands’ ambassador to the Philippines Marion Derckx and representatives of various non-government organizations (NGOs) went to barangay Inayawan, Cebu City last Monday to meet the beneficiaries of its water supply project in the barangay.

The project, in partnership with NGOs like Vitens Evides International (VEI), Eau et Vie (E&V) and The Netherlands Red Cross, Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) and the local government unit of Cebu City, is targeted to serve around 600 families in Inayawan and 80,000 residents all over Metro Cebu.

At least 55 percent of the project, which is worth P376 million, will be shouldered by the government of Netherlands.

The MCWD will install pipelines as well as provide water to the beneficiary families.

Derckx and his team also visited lower Tipolo in Mandaue City to interact with the beneficiaries of Tubig-Pagasa project of E & V Water and Life Philippines.

“We go to areas (Inayawan) where the project has not yet taken place and to another in Tipolo where the project already took place. I see a big difference,” Derckx said.

She said that with the implementation of the  water supply project, the living conditions  of  Tipolo residents have improved.
