AFTER failing to see action in what would have been his biggest race this year – the XTerra World Championships in Maui, Hawaii – lone Filipino off road triathlete Joseph Lumagod Miller vented his frustrations on the Pintaflores Festival Off-road Triathlon Championship in San Carlos City last Sunday, where he emerged the fastest competitor.

Around a hundred triathletes joined the off-road triathlon event which featured a 1-kilometer swim, 25k mountain bike and 7k trail run which Miller finished in one hour, 55 minutes and 33 seconds.

Finishing in second place was Rosalito Albina while Fidel Dogo Ovas came in third.

According to Miller, he was not able to compete in the XTerra World Championships where he trained for more than a month here, due to sponsorship issues.

Miller, 34, who is a three-time XTerra Philippines Filipino-elite champion and ranked 140th among 800 off-road triathletes in the world championships, said he will have a busy holiday season as he is also currently competing in the Mayor Radaza Cycling Cup Series in Lapu-Lapu City which concludes on December 20.  He is currently leading the points standings of the said race.

The Lapu-Lapu City-based Miller placed 61st in the Xterra Asia Pacific Championships in Jervis Bay, New South Wales, Australia last year but rebounded strongly in the Xterra Malaysia Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia by finishing seventh overall also last year.
