WHILE it awaits the release of a  franchise, the SM MyBus will offer free shuttle rides to commuters traveling to and from  SM Seaside City Cebu starting tomorrow until Monday, Nov. 30.

The free bus rides coincide with the opening of SM Seaside City Cebu tomorrow.

The buses will run from 8 a.m. to 12 midnight with intervals of 15 to 25 minutes.

Commuters are advised to stay at the bus stops at least 10 minutes before the scheduled trip.

In a press statement, SM management said the bus routes  include Lawaan, Talisay City to SM Seaside City Cebu/Mambaling (Phoenix Petroleum), and vice versa; Parkmall in Mandaue City to SM City Cebu to Compaña Maritima and SM Seaside City Cebu/ Mambaling (Phoenix Petroleum); Mambaling (Phoenix Petroleum)/SM Seaside City Cebu to Malacañang sa Sugbo to SM City Cebu to UC Med and ending in Parkmall in Mandaue City.

The European-made air-conditioned buses are accessible to persons with disabilities (PWDs) and are equipped with Wi-Fi, a global positioning system (GPS) and security cameras.

They will eventually employ an E-plus smart card cashless payment system for commuters.

The joint venture’s request for a franchise for their MyBus fleet also called a  High Quality Public Transport System (HQPTS) is still pending with  the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.
