Sorongon keeps winning

RUFFA Sorongon and Kenyan Hapram Kilimo dominated the ThreeSixty Pharmacy Home Run yesterday at the Cebu Business Park.

Sorongon, who topped the Lapu-Lapu Historic Resort City Run and the Cebu Leg of the 39th National Milo Marathon last month, crossed the finish line at Sumilon Road in one hour, nine minutes and nine seconds to rule the 16-kilometer race.

Kilimo lorded it over the men’s side of the 16k race by finishing in 53:47.

Jeneda Arcuino finished second in the women’s race with 1:11.04 while Mereeis Ramirez placed third, clocking 1:16.02.

Eric Chipsiror made it a 1-2 finish for Kenyan runners as he recorded a time of 54:01 to finish second in the men’s race. Cebuano Prince Joey Lee rounded off the top three with a time of 56:09.

In the 8k race, Cherry Andrin and Michael Largo ruled their respective divisions, clocking 32:13 and 27:34, respectively.

Melody Perez finished the women’s race in 32:31 to place second while another of the Andrin siblings, Lovely, finished third at 36:19.

In the men’s side, Arnel Florentino settled for second place at 29:21 while at third was Azlan Pagay with 29:23.

In the 4k race, winners were Ruel Algufera (12:29) and Sarah Lee Cuizon (17:03).

A massive turnout of 3,000 runners joined the event held for the benefit of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s charity program for the homeless here in Cebu.
