DAR awards best performing farmers’ organizations in CV

The Department of Agrarian Reform in Central Visayas (DAR 7) awarded the seven best performing agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations (ARBOs) this year.

The awarding was one of the highlights during the regional farmers forum attended by 150 representatives of ARBOs last Dec. 7 and 8 at Cebu Northwinds Hotel in barangay Lahug, Cebu City.

The awardees were Lapay Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Multi-Purpose Cooperative from Bayawan City, Negros Oriental for implementing the agrarian production credit project; Ramrod Agricultural Multi-Purpose Cooperative from Canlaon City, Negros Oriental for their Village Level Processing Center Enhancement Project; Kahugpongan sa mga Igsoong Naglawig sa Kalambuan from San Miguel, Bohol for implementing the Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity and Economic Support Services; the San Jose Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Multi-Purpose Cooperative from barangay Caputatan Sur, Medellin in Cebu for their credit assistance program for beneficiaries; Tinabangay sa Mag-uuma Gasa ni San Isidro Muti-purpose Cooperative from Trinidad, Bohol for implementing the Center for Agriculture and Rural Development project; the Catulayan Community Multi-Purpose Cooperative in San Juan, Siquijor for implementing the micro-savings operations; and Sta. Ana Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Candijay, Bohol.

DAR 7 assistant regional director Dr. Antonio del Socorro congratulated the best performing ARBOs, which he expected to continue their good performance and inspire other DAR assisted organizations to increase their farm production and income.

Meanwhile, the two-day forum with the theme “Kalihokang Agraryo: Lintunganay sa Kalamboan” was attended by 150 ARBOs representatives from the provinces of Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental and Siquijor.

The activity started with a Holy Mass, followed by opening of the exhibits that displayed products from agrarian reform communities.
