Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight PR2201 bound for Roxas City in Capiz from Manila was diverted to Mactan Cebu International Airport in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu on Wednesday morning due to bad weather.

The flight, an Airbus 320 which was carrying 115 passengers, landed at the airport at 6:55 a.m Airport management GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation (GMCAC) confirmed landing of the plane, but said the plane was only on the ground for a while.

“They left a little after seven. It was just a quick rest due to zero visibility,” said Estee Marie Plunkett, GMCAC head of corporate affairs.

She added that two other flights from Manila bound for Cebu were also diverted to Davao early Wednesday morning due to the same weather conditions.

The two airlines with total capacities of 170 pax each were Cebu Pacific and Zest Air.

Plunkett said that both flights, similar to the case with PR 2201, only stopped for a while in Davao and were now on their way to Cebu.

So far, no flights flying out of MCIA have been cancelled or diverted.

Plunket said that as of 10 a.m Wednesday, operations were “back to normal” at the airport.
