To mark its 10th International Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Awards, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines (CCCP) will be launching a new category – the “Participants’ Choice for the Best Team Leader.”

Chamber president Julian Payne said the addition was made to encourage wider participation in the judging process, demonstrate new technology in voting, increase site traffic for the chamber and make it more fun and interactive for the participants.

Payne said the chamber wanted to bring more focus to team leaders and frontline supervisors.

Companies nominated in any of the 13 categories may nominate one team leader. Companies nominated multiple times can nominate multiple team leaders.

The categories for the ICT awards are: Best Company of the Year, Best Employer of the Year, Best Filipino-owned Company of the Year, Best Company of the Year Outside NCR, Best Global In-House Center of the Year, Most Innovative Company of the Year, Best Voice Excellence Company of the Year, Best Emerging IT-BPM Company of the Year for Creatives/Healthcare/Finance and Accounting, Best Software Company of the Year, Best Philippine Mobile App of the Year and Best ICT CEO of the Year.

Unlike the other categories, the Participants’ Choice Award will use an online voting scheme. Anyone can vote for any of the nominees from February 15 to March 15.

By March 16, polls will close and the top six finalists will be sent by the chamber to the grand CCCP International ICT Awards night on March 22.

Payne said the top six will undergo another elimination on March 22 using text votes. Companies in the Visayas and Mindanao are encouraged to participate in the polls.

Meanwhile, the CCCP is also planning several other activities to increase members’ participation.

One is the third trade mission to Canada between the last week of September and first week of October. This year the organization will focus on agribusiness companies and hopes to link up more Canadian and Philippine businesses.

The chamber will also host in July its annual Canada Day Trade Fair at the Ayala Center Cebu.
