CEBUANO forward Roger Pogoy continues to boost his stock in the amateur ranks as he tallied 21 points to help buoy the Phoenix-FEU past AMA, 114-102, in the 2016 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup yesterday at the San Juan Arena.

Fresh off a championship with the Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws in the UAAP, Pogoy pulled the rug from under AMA, which led by as many as 22 points before the Accelerators put the pedal to the metal in the second half.

Mike Tolomia sparked the fightback in the third period, where he scored 16 of his 28 points. He not only led the team in scoring but also had a rare triple-double with 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

Raymar Jose, a former sentinel of the Cebu Eastern College, also had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds while ex-University of Cebu sniper Al Francis Tamsi scored 10.

Down 11 in the fourth, Phoenix-FEU fired off an 18-5 blast highlighted by a four-point play by Tolomia that gave them the lead, 94-92. Later, they scored seven unanswered points to finally take control of the lead for good.

Jerramy King stuffed the stat sheet for AMA, which fell to 0-2 (win-loss), with an all-around outing of 29 points, nine assists, seven rebounds and five steals.
