USC cagers battle UV in Cabanero tilt semis

By: Jonas N. Panerio February 06,2016 - 11:20 PM

THE semifinals of the 1st Raul Cabanero Inter-Collegiate League will see a battle of wits between two teams that just cannot get enough of one another as the reigning Cesafi champions University of San Carlos Warriors take on the top-seeded University of the Visayas Green Lancers tonight at the Bulacao Sports Complex in Talisay City.

The match-up is a virtual rematch of the Cesafi finals last year where the Warriors got the better of the Green Lancers in a thrilling five-game series to hoist the Cebu collegiate crown.

However, much has changed in the few months since that momentous triumph for USC especially at the coaching front as they lost head coach Britt Reroma and elevated former assistant Bong Abad to the helm.

UV on the other hand, keeps on chugging along the road to redemption as their revitalized attack is now being anchored on guards Rey Suerte, Leonard Santillan, Jun Manzo and new recruit Sheldon Gahi. The winner of this match-up will advance to the finals which will be played on Wednesday.

The other semis pairing will have the University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars taking on the J. Espina-Cebu Institute of Technology-University Wildcats tomorrow.
