A 31-year-old scavenger died after he was run over by a prime mover last Friday night on J. de Veyra Street, Barangay Carreta, Cebu City.

PO2 Wilfredo Caperida Jr., traffic investigator, said Niño Inoc Campo of Barangay Carreta was taking a nap under the parked prime mover (ZES 137) with trailer when the driver, Gerry Tenebroso Batoon, 49, pulled the accelerator, pinning Campo against the wheel. Caperida said Batoon was not aware that he hit a person until his son called his attention.

The victim and the driver are both neighbors.

Batoon is currently detained at a police station, pending the filing of charges.
