A MAN is facing trial for allegedly selling fake banknotes in Barangay Sto. Nino, Cebu City last Feb. 23.

Dante Marticion, 42, was charged before the Regional Trial Court for violating Article 168 of the Revised Penal Code which prohibits the possession and use of

“false banknotes.”

Bail was recommended at P20,000.

Marticion was arrested in a buy-bust operation inside a fast food outlet on Colon Street in Cebu City

Police and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) received reports that he was involved in the proliferation of fake money.

After conducting a test-buy, BSP officers confirmed that Marticion was selling fake bills.

Police recovered from the accused six pieces of fake P1,000 bills, and 113 pieces of P500 bills.

When presented before Prosecutor Rhodna Alcala-Bacatan, Marticion chose not to undergo a preliminary investigation which could have given him the chance to  refute the allegations.

Finding sufficient evidence against Marticion, the prosecutor elevated the charges against the accused in court.
