TWO persons were found dead in separate incidents in Barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City last Wednesday afternoon.

The first incident involved a 17-year-old girl who was found dead in their house around 1 p.m.

Charmaine (not her real name), a second year college student, was discovered already lifeless inside her room  by her boyfriend.

Police found no signs of foul play in Charmaine’s death and said they were convinced that the girl committed suicide.

PO3 Luisito Ernie of the Homicide Section said they found  cyanide inside the victim’s room and a suicide note asking for forgiveness from her mother.

Police learned from Charmaine’s classmates that she was impregnated by her former boyfriend who, after making her drunk,  took advantage of her during their last meeting.

Her present boyfriend and her mother didn’t know of her ordeal as she kept it to herself.

The second fatality involved a 70-year-old Japanese national who was found dead inside his rented apartment later at 5:30 p.m.

Hiroshi Shii, a pensioner from Chiba, Japan, was discovered by the owners of the apartment, couple Conrad and Teresita Erickson, already dead.

Teresita said she noticed that Shii had not left his unit since Wednesday morning, prompting her husband to check on the Japanese.

The couple used a duplicate key to open the locked door of Shii’s room and found the lifeless Japanese. They immediately called for police assistance. Responding policemen from the Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) led by Senior Insp. Precilo Libato found no signs of foul play on Shii’s death.

The couple told police that Shii might have been suffering from a lung disease as he had a persistent cough.
