A PARTYLIST group that claims to represent the fisheries sector said they will pass laws that will address livelihood and income concerns of the country’s fisherfolk.

The All Fish Partylist group comprised mostly of commercial fishers visited the Pasil and Taboan markets and outlined their programs during a press conference yesterday.

Atty. Arnold Naval, first nominee and consultant of Inter-Island Deep Sea Fishing Inc., said they will help build markets, create cooperatives and identify alternative livelihood programs for fisherfolk if they win congressional seats in the May 9 elections.

They will also identify and set up fish landing sites for the fisherfolk communities. The group said even if some of their members are commercial fishers, they will still serve both commercial and municipal fisherfolk.

“Ang ginagawa namin hindi lang para sa commercial fishing kung hindi para sa lahat. Yun ang pananaw namin na ang dagat ay para sa lahat ng Pilipino (What we are doing is not only for commercial fishing but also for everyone. Our view is that the seas are for every Filipino),” said Edgar Lim, third party nominee.
