Following months of speculation, former Cebu Governor Emilio “Lito” Osmeña has formally endorsed the presidential bid of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
For Vice-President, Osmeña announced his support for Senator Chiz Escudero of Partido Galing at Puso.
In a press conference held at Marco Polo Plaza Hotel, Thursday afternoon, Osmeña said that his support for Duterte was prompted by “visions and ideals” which they both share.
“They (candidates) are all good but we have someone better,” Osmeña said in choosing Duterte.
When asked to comment on his brother Toledo City Mayor John Henry “Sonny” Osmeña’s support for Vice President Jejomar Binay, Lito said, “I think in his heart, he (Sonny) is really for Duterte.”
Lito also announced support for One Cebu bets Winston Garcia and Nerissa Soon-Ruiz in the press conference.
“When I was governor, they (Garcia and Ruiz) were the most helpful during my term. They helped Cebu boom,” he said.
