Donnaire arrives in PH, fight tickets now on sale

FIVE-division world champion and reigning WBO Super-Bantamweight king Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire Jr. arrived in Manila from Las Vegas early morning yesterday for his April 23 fight against Hungarian Zsolt Bedak dubbed as “The Time Has Come” at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).

Donaire Jr. (36-3, 23KOs) arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) with his father/trainer Nonito Sr., his wife Rachel and his two sons Jarel and Logan.

He is scheduled to arrive in Cebu on April 16 and is expected to conclude his training at the ALA Boxing Gym. ALA Promotions International is co-promoting the card with Top Rank Promotions of Bob Arum and ABS-CBN.

Donaire Jr. is reportedly training hard for the first defense of his crown. His father said that his boy is getting better and better every week. Before flying in, Donaire had started his sparring sessions in Las Vegas  against young prospects like the unbeaten featherweight Raeese Alem of Michigan.

The team also watched Bedak’s (25-1, 8KOs) fight tapes to formulate a perfect strategy on fight night. Donaire Jr. will continue his training at the Wild Card Gym in Parañaque City and spar with super-featherweight Virgil Puton of General Santos City, his regular sparring partner here.

Meanwhile, fight tickets are now on sale.

Tickets are priced at P10,000 for VIP front row; P7,000 for VIP second row; P6,000 for VIP third row; P5,000 for VIP fourth row; and P4,000 for VIP fifth row.

Gold seat tickets are priced at P2,000; silver seats, P1,000; grandstand gray, P750; grandstand red, P500; grandstand yellow, P300; grandstand red,  P500; grandstand yellow, P300; grandstand green, P100; and P50 for general admission.
