CEBUANO tennis prodigy Greek Apduhan advanced to the semifinal round of the Palawan Pawnshop-Palawan Express Pera Padala (PPS-PEPP) regional age-group tennis tournament after scoring two wins yesterday at the Mactan Island Lawn and Air Base Tennis Club.
Apduhan of Carcar City, Cebu rolled past Kevin Balundo, 6-1, 6-3, before smashing Mark Wilhelm Albaracin, 6-2, 6-3, in the 18-under boys’ quarterfinal.
Apduhan will face the winner of the Matt Steve Palasan-Jude Carlo Balundo quarterfinals which was being played at press time.
Meanwhile, Naga City’s Lyrah Mae Repollo advanced to the quarters in the 14-under and 16-under divisions with identical 6-0, 6-0 wins over Cebuanas Christine Montanez and Phel Hazel Coderos.
Also, Kristin Salimbangon hammered Wayne Angeline Albarracin, 6-1, 6-1, to set up a quarterfinal duel with Repollo.
However, things went south for University of Cebu (UC) ace Dale Estonilo who bowed down to Jude Carlo Balundo, 7-6 (4), 6-3, in the 18-under boys’ play.
