THE University of Cebu Medical Center (UCMed) recently opened its Heart Center last March 2, offering the safest cardiac care made possible by the most advanced equipment in the country.
Composed of four broad services that targets the well-being of a patient’s heart from diagnosis to recovery, the newly-opened Heart Center promises to deliver the best heart care to various patients. It is a highly specialized facility that offers a myriad of cardiac and vascular diagnostics and interventional services to patients with a particular cardiovascular disease.
The Cardiac Catherization (CATH) Laboratory aims to provide medical interventional procedures at a complex level to treat various cardiovascular disease using the newest diagnostic imaging technology. Among the services that this division offers are the Coronary Angiography, Percutaneous Coronary Interventions, Carotid Angiography, and the right Heart Catherization among others.
Meanwhile, the Cardiac Diagnostic Unit/Cardiac Thoracic ICU is a specialized intensive care unit created for the purpose of medical and post-cardiac intervention care.
Heart Center’s Cardiac OR serves the newest Stockert S5 heart-lunch machine which sets the new standards for functionality, quality, and safety. The overall health of a patient is being closely monitored in this division with the aid of UCMed’s expert cardiac team.
The Cardiac Rehab Unit, on the other hand, offers medically-supervised programs using top of the line exercise equipment inclusive of all components necessary to aid patients fully recover from cardiac hospitalization. These programs are monitored exercise guidelines, educational programs, stress management, dietary assessment and consultation, and risk factor assessment and counseling.
