Cebuana Molde is UAAP Rookie of the Year

RISING volleyball star Cebuana Isa Molde capped off her first season in the big leagues in style as she was named the UAAP’s Rookie of the Year.

The native of Catmon, who is steadily making waves in the volleyball scene after helping lead the University of the Philippines (UP) Lady Maroons to the Final Four in Season 78, beat out her teammate and fellow Cebuana Justine Dorog for the distinction.

The daughter of elementary school principals, Molde was recruited to join high school volleyball powerhouse Hope Christian High School several years back. She eventually made her way to Diliman, where she is part of a youth brigade that is bringing hope back to the moribund squad.

Meanwhile, Ateneo superstar Alyssa Valdez won her third straight MVP award. She also garnered the best scorer and best server awards in what has been an illustrious collegiate career.

La Salle’s Dawn Nicole Macandili also took home several awards for the season by winning the best digger and receiver awards.

Sharing the honors with the duo were La Salle’s Kim Fajardo and May Joy Baron, who were named best setter and best blocker, respectively, and National University’s Jaja Santiago who was honored as best spiker.
