Tuburan mayor claims murder suspect is allied with rival
Tuburan Mayor Democrito Diamante claimed that the arrested suspect in the murder of his political supporter was a former barangay chairman who served as the political leader of his opponent, One Cebu mayoral candidate Daphne Lagon.
Diamante said former Barangay Montealegre chairman Ludivico Roquero is known to be part of at least 15 to 20 people allied with Lagon.
“Abusado kaayo nang tawhana, kusog na nga mang-harass sa atong mga tawo diri (He’s abusive, he harasses my people here),” Diamante said in a radio interview.
Diamante said Roquero was identified by the survivors and witnesses of yesterday’s ambush where his supporter Rene Cangmaong was killed.
Diamante said the alleged leader of the ambush, Eduardo Sacamay is a former New People’s Army (NPA) rebel commander who allegedly recruited other former NPA rebels to join the group.
Lagon earlier denied these accusations. But Diamante said he and his vice mayor are the real targets of Lagon’s group.
