CEBU’S Elizabeth Abarquez settled for two silvers after suffering bitter losses in the final round of the Cebuana Lhuillier Age-Group Tennis Championships Tuesday night at the Tubod Tennis Club in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.
The 14-year-old Abarquez of Carcar, Cebu had two chances of winning a title but she was unable to contain Sultan Kudarat’s Carlyn Bless Guarde in both the 16-under and 18-under girls finals.
Guarde won over Abarquez in the 16-U finals, 5-7, 6-1, 10-6, and followed it up with another 6-3, 2-6, 10-6 victory in the 18-U championship game.
