It was an accident, says Narra’s wife
ADLAON Barangay Captain Elvis Narra remained in intensive care unit (ICU) in a private hospital in Cebu City three days after he was hurt in a motorcycle accident in his own barangay.
His attending physicians were still deciding if he would have to undergo a head surgery, his wife Sharon Lee told Cebu Daily News.
“We need prayers for him (Elvis). We are also thankful to all of his friends and supporters who have offered prayers for his recovery,” Sharon added.
The Association for Barangay Captains (ABC) in Cebu City has organized a healing Mass for the 39-year-old Elvis yesterday at the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño.
Elvis’ family and friends that, included Cebu City Councilor–elect Jerry Guardo, were yesterday gathered outside the ICU.
Sharon said that city councilors like Lea Japson and Alvin Arcilla, Councilor-elect Joy Young and even Cebu City Mayor-elect Tomas Osmeña visited him on last Thursday night. A relative of outgoing Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama also visited her husband, she said.
Sharon dismissed allegations that Elvis was forced to use a motorcycle because he had returned the vehicle issued to him by the city government.
¨That is not true. Even if he returned the vehicle, we still have a car. What happened to him was an accident,¨ she added.
Sharon said she has yet to receive any financial assistance from the city but Cebu City Acting Mayor Margarita Osmeña said earlier that City Hall could extend help through available programs like the City Hospitalization Assistance and Medicines Program (CHAMP).
Elvis, a second term barangay captain allied with Team Rama, was on his way home driving a motorcycle from an event in Barangay Lusaran when he met an accident that threw him out of the vehicle.
The police were still investigating what caused the accident.
