Team ACR’s Chua is Quick 8 champ in Drag Wars 2

Ferdie Chua of team ACR logged the best time and won the Quick 8 open title in the Drag Wars 2 held last weekend at the Baywalk strip of the South Road Properties.

Chua drove his Nissan GT-R to the Quick 8 open crown after logging a 10.5-second run in a 400-meter sprint track. That mark was the best time of the event.

The second best time was logged by Mayor Andrew Montellibano of Group B, which was 10.6 seconds using a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 3.
ACR’s Warren Go, who also used a GT-R, placed third.

The Quick 8 all-motor title went to Bacolod Motorsports’ Junjie Jenoves using a Honda Civic EG hatchback. Runners up were Totsie Tanpingko also of Bacolod Motorsports and Classic Autoworx’s Michael Francis Calo Mercado, respectively.

Albert Golez of Group B won the Class A title with a Subaru while DubCity bets bagged the Class B, C and D titles.

John Qiamco topped Class B with a Honda Civic EG hatchback, Andre Astilla ruled Class C using a Honda Civic ES-i and Wilren Pena drove his Subaru Forester to the Class D title.

Dragwars 2 was spearheaded by the Cebu Horsepower Events and Promotions and the Federation of Auto Clubs in Cebu. Neil Labrador was the race director.

The teams that participated included Classic Autoworx, Group B, ACR, NCR, Dubcity, TACC, AMO and Bacolod Motorsports.

Organizers are thankful for the support of the racing community and acting Cebu City mayor Margot Osmeña. The third edition may be held this September.
