A FOREIGN vessel ran aground off Monad Shoal in Daanbantayan town, northern Cebu on Monday morning.

The Philippine Coast Guard-Cebu station said a Bantay Dagat team received a report on the incident at 8 am.

PCG Cebu station commander Agapito Bibat identified the vessel as the MV Belle Rose which carried the flag of Panama.

Bibat said initial information they received was that the ship came from Japan and was headed to San Fernando carrying sacks of cement.

“Our team from the Hagnaya substationn is headed to Monad Shoal to investigate the incident,” Bibat said.
