CEBUANA Elizabeth Abarquez booked the first ticket to the 18-under girls finals after registering easy victories in the PSC-PHILTA Visayas Leg tennis tournament yesterday at the Naga City Tennis Club.

The 14-year-old Abarquez of Carcar, Cebu pummeled Pink Manabat, 6-1, 6-1, then automatically advanced to the finals after her next foes Shyne Villareal and Alexa Bornea were unable to show up for their respective games.

No reason was given on why they didn’t make it to the venue.

With the victory, Abarquez will now await the winner of the Kristin Salimbangon-Zethley Mae Alferez battle, which was being played at press time.

Fellow Cebuano Cesar Salimbangon also zoomed a step closer to the 12-under boys tiara with a 6-0, 6-3 triumph over Mitch Largo.

Despite the loss, Largo still remains in the hunt for a title after defeating Roman Guangko, 4-2, 4-0, in the semis and set up a titular showdown against Vincent Cañete, who downed Hela Riza Coderos, 4-0, 4-2, in the 10-unisex division.
