CEBUANO netter Marc Nicole Suson defeated Carlyle Kinaadman, 7-6 (6), 6-1, to snag the 16-under boys’ tiara of the PSC-PHILTA Visayas Leg tennis tournament yesterday at the Naga City Tennis Club.

The win was a big one for Suson as he prepares for the BMEG Junior Tennis Cup this Friday.

Kinaadman did not go down easily as he knotted the game at 6-all in the opening set.

The top-ranked Suson managed to steal a point before capitalizing on the miscues of Kinaadman to win the first set.

Also putting up solid performances were John Clyde Laquio and Venz Alforque, who mauled Norman Joseph Enriquez, 7-6 (6), 6-2, and Caesar Salimbangon, 6-0, 6-1, to bag the 18-under and 14-under boys’ titles, respectively.
Salimbangon absorbed his second straight finals setback after losing to Eric Longakit, 7-5, 6-4, in the 12-under boys’ finals.

In the girls’ division, two-time Batang Pinoy gold medalist Elizabeth Abarquez outlasted fellow Batang Pinoy winner Zethley Mae Alferez, 6-4, 6-4, to win the 16-under girls’ crown while Tiffany Nocos rebounded from a finals loss against Lyrah Mae Repollo and won the 12-under girls’ title courtesy of a victory against Kierstien Albofera, 6-0, 6-3.
Earlier in the day, Repollo conquered Nocos in a three-set thriller, 7-5, 2-6, 11-9, to snatch the 14-under girls’ diadem.
