SWU recovers to stay alive

THE SOUTHWESTERN University (SWU) Cobras kept their tournament hopes alive with a 25-22, 25-11 triumph over the Holy Family Academy (HFA) Familians in the Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League of Champions yesterday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

A day after losing to Da La Salle Lipa, the Cobras displayed more toughness this time but still started the game slow, surviving the Familians in a bruising first set, 25-22.

The Cobras found their rhythm in the second as they leaned on their defense, holding HFA into an 11-point second set en route to a 25-11 triumph.
The Cobras are now 1-1 (win-loss), the same record with the Familians.

SWU will try to make it two in a row and brighten its chances of making the semifinals as it faces National Capital Region (NCR) runners-up National University (NU) Bullpups tonight at 6 p.m.
