Two mall workers in Carcar City are in critical condition after the motorcycle they rode in hit a multicab in San Fernando town, southern Cebu Saturday morning.

PO1 Ronnie Margate, desk officer of the San Fernando police, said Gunry Gelido drove a motorcycle while Aljun Ortiz rode with him as they headed for work when they hit a multicab along the national highway of barangay Balud at 9:30 a.m.

Witnesses said Gelido overtook another motorcycle in front of them. Both Gelido and Ortiz were not wearing helmets at the time. Multicab driver Felix Agrobio told the police that they swerved to their lane and hit Gelido’s motorcycle.

Felix was with his wife Annalou and they were on their way to Cebu City when the accident happened. PO1 Margate said they have placed the couple in custody at their station pending filing of possible charges of reckless imprudence.

He said that the couple were willing to pay the medical expenses of the victims.
Both Gelido and Ortiz were earlier brought to South General Hospital earlier this morning.

But Margate said they were referred to Miller Hospital in Cebu City for treatment.
