THREE Cebuano junior triathletes – Talisay City’s Andrew Kim Remolino and the Chiongbian brothers Yuan and Justin, will represent the country in today’s Singapore International Triathlon.

Remolino, who won the Dip N Dash Aquathlon held in Compostela town last May, will compete in the sprint distance along with Yuan and Justin Chiongbian as they represent the country under the Philippine developmental triathlon team.

The sprint distance covers a 750-meter swim, 20k bike and 5k run.

Remolino’s father/trainer Roland, said that his son has just recovered from an injury so it’s hard to tell how he will fare in today’s race. “He was able to rest for two weeks but I trust my son’s ability and I think he will do well in the race,” said the elder Remolino.

Remolino has a string of triathlon victories including the sprint distance of the Dipolog Triathlon and the Cebu leg of the National Age Group Triathlon elite division. He was also the fastest Filipino finisher in the Asian Triathlon Cup held in Japan last April.

The Chiongbian brothers are also expected to do well today after their recent training in Portugal.

Joining the three Cebuanos in the Singapore International Triathlon are fellow Philippine developmental triathlon team members Wacky Baniqued, Lucian Alejo, Lucian Caleb Alejo, Nicole Eijansantos and Lauren Justine Plaza. They are accompanied by Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) head coach Ric Reyes.
