A suspected drug pusher was wounded during a buy-bust operation after he allegedly tried to shoot it out with the Marigondon Police.

Five other persons were also arrested during the operation Saturday evening.

Joebert Rosquillo, 36, a resident of Sitio Hawaiian in Barangay Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City, was rushed to the hospital after he was shot by police on the right leg when he allegedly attempted to fire at them.

Police Senior Insp. Jimmy Fortes, chief of the Marigondon Police who led the buy-bust operation against Rosquillo, said they received information that the latter, who had earlier surrendered to the police in line with Oplan Tokhang, was still selling shabu, thus they conducted the drug operation.

Sensing that he was about to be arrested, Rosquillo allegedly pulled out a hand gun from his waist but one of the team members shot him hitting his right leg.

Five other persons inside his house believed to be cohorts and were engaged in a pot session were also arrested. They were identified as Arnel Guillarawan, 32, of Basak, Lapu-Lapu; Joshua Minoza, 20; Marilyn Bravo, 24, an entertainer at Ichia Uni Bar, residing at Kagudoy Basak; Joan Capricho, 24, of Hawaiian, Marigondon, also an entertainer of Ichia Uni Bar; and Renato Saranza, 36, of Barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu, a construction worker.

They were inside Rosquillo’s house will be charged with visiting a drug den. Rosquillio will be charged with selling of illegal drugs, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Police recovered from Rosquillo, 21 small plastic sachets of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia, P400 believed to be proceeds of selling shabu, P400 in marked money and a .357 revolver with four live ammunition and two empty shells in its cylinder.

“Maayo gani kay sa unang pusil sa polis natumba dayon siya ug nailog dayon ang armas, kay kon distansya pa siya, posible nga masundan pa siya og tira,” said Fortes.

(Good thing he was neutralized at the first shot and was disarmed, but if he had been at a distance, it’s possible that more shots would follow.)
