IN its 38th season, UP Cookout is back with the circus in town this November 11-12, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. at UP Cebu grounds.
UP Cookout 2016 will culminate with the title “Youtopia”. The theme-title aims to inspire, properly educate, and raise awareness to Filipino netizens on the horrors plaguing social media, and to remind them on the importance of online etiquette and credible sources of information.
“We’re now deep in the digital revolution and we all know of the recent toxicity spewing from social media platforms. As digital natives, we should take the initiative to respond to this growing issue before it actually becomes an extremely serious threat to our lives,” said Melanie Ruth Bolo, Youtopia’s over-all production director.
Youtopia will also be bringing back the roots of Cookout, wherein students and attendees will be cooking their food at the heart of the party.
Performers and special guests will give their best shot for the biggest, grandest and most fabulous show of the year as a modest and humble step on calling out everyone to “Revive Your Senses. Return to Reality”.
The homegrown talents and creativity of UP Cebu students will be featured in UP Cookout 2016: Youtopia’s three segments: Bandahan – “Masquerade, Sayawan – “Feast of Fools”, Kantahan -“Carnival Calls”, and in the main segment which is Rampahan – “The Prestige”. To add to the hype, Youtopia boasts an impressive line-up of judges which include Vispop 2.0 winner Jerika Teodorico, Vispop-singer Kurt Fick, dancer-of-all-seasons Monica Orellano, Sinulog Festival Queen 2015 Yanny Penserga and Miss Cebu 2015 Wynonah Buot.
Attendees will also get the chance to rock in the live performances of famed Cebuano rock bands Dama de Noche, Skankin Brews, Honeydrop, and Powerspoonz. More Vispop Music Festival icons are joining the circus such as Vispop 1.0 winner Jewel Villaflores and Vispop 4.0 performer Kenneth Corvera.
And for the first time in the history of UP Cookout, Drop Decay and Cueshé will be playing live at the UP Cebu grounds!
UP Cookout is an event that has continually been successful but it can still grow to the best of its potential with the support of partners. This year, an estimated number of 3,000 people are expected to join and experience the best carnival in town!
