And it comes in a powerful diesel engine
MINI Cebu launched the new MINI Countryman, the biggest and most versatile model in the brand’s 58-year history last week at its dealership along A.S. Fortuna Street in Mandaue City.
Having been completely newly developed, the second generation Countryman now reflects considerable advancements in the areas of space, functionality, athletic flair and premium characteristics.
“The second generation MINI Countryman advances the brand within the premium compact segment. MINI fans in the Philippines will be excited to know that their new daily companion is just as nimble on the streets as well as off-roads. We are confident that the new MINI Countryman will deliver fun and excitement every time you get behind the wheel,” Peter Medalla, Head of MINI Asia, said in a press statement.
The Countryman will come in two variants, the D and SD. Both will be powered by 2.0-liter turbodiesel engines developed by BMW, which owns MINI and the parent company of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
The Countryman is the first MINI model in the Philippines to be powered by a diesel engine. The D variant produces 150 horsepower and 330 newton meter of torque while the SD has a higher output of 190 hp and 400 NM.
The arrival of the Countryman is expected to give the Cebu dealership a boost in sales.
“There’s a good following already of MINI in Cebu. I think with the all-new Countryman, we can sustain it,” said MINI Philippines National Sales Manager Jefferson Lizardo. “Here in the Philippines, we’re an SUV country. So it’s really big for us that we introduce this model.”
