By: Jonas Rey N. Panerio August 22,2018 - 09:35 PM

THE UNIVERSITY of the Visayas (UV) and SHS-Ateneo de Cebu renew their rivalry in the SBP division when they clash for the title in the 33rd SBP Passerelle Twin Tournament sponsored by Milo.

Both teams advanced after beating separate foes last Tuesday at the Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts along Mango Avenue.

UV destroyed the University of San Carlos (USC), 66-32, behind a sizzling 15-2 start that set the tempo for the wholly lopsided match. Kent Clark Castro and Jan Toring scored nine apiece to help UV claim its second win in three tries.

Standing opposite UV in the finals will be a familiar opponent in Ateneo de Cebu, which beat Don Bosco, 39-28.

After a slim 9-6 lead in the first, Ateneo de Cebu slowly asserted their might and began pulling away, leading by 13, 21-8, at halftime before heading to the final canto, ahead, 33-15.

Froilan Maglasang scored nine while Renzo Zanoria added eight for Ateneo de Cebu.

In the Passerelle division, Don Bosco clobbered USC, 44-19, to improve to 2-1, while SHS-AdC Lux Oriens defeated Southwestern University-Phinma, 48-40, to stay unbeaten at 2-0.
