CANLAON CITY, Philippines – A plan by the police to file a murder complaint against Renato Llenes, the self-confessed killer of Christine Lee Silawana, is taking a little longer than necessary.

Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas, director of Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO – 7), said they are yet to convince Silawan’s biological father, Mario Pardillo, to act as complainant in the murder charge that they will file against Llenes.

Sinas said they do not intend to include Silawan’s former boyfriend and classmate in the charge since all of the evidences that they have gathered leads to Llenes as the church collector’s murder.

The PRO-7 director admitted that they are having difficulty in convincing Silawan’s mother, Lourdes, to act as complainant in the murder case against Llenes because she wanted her daughter’s ex-boyfriend included as among the respondents of the case.

Si Ginang Lourdes hindi pa lumambot. Naa mi gipadala lain nga amigo ug amiga mustorya niya pero if dili siya, basin ang papa (ang) mo file,” Sinas said in a live interview with CDN Digital while visiting Canlaon City, Negros Oriental earlier today, April 18, for a PRO-7 initiated medical mission.

Sinas said that Lapu-Lapu City policemen visited the Pardillo residence on Friday to ask Lourdes to sign the affidavit of complaint, but she refused. Lourdes wanted her daughter’s former boyfriend, who was earlier arrested by the National Bureau of Invetsigation (NBI), included in the charge.

However, Sinas said, they could not give in to Lourdes’ request.

Katong hangyo niya namo dili namo kaya. Unang-una, nganong iyaha man gyong ipaapil ang way labot? Nganong pugson man gyud niya nga ang iyahang anak gi rape nga wa man gi rape? If unsa lang ang facts kato lang ang among ipakita,” he added.

Sinas said they will stand by the outcome of the autopsy by Dr. Benjamine Lara of the PNP Crime Laboratory that Silawan was not raped.

NBI – 7, the lead agency that is investigating the Silawan murder case, has adopted the findings of PNP Crime Laboratory.

Meanwhile, Sinas said that they will have Llenes undergo psychological evaluation and polygraph test to find out if the 42-year-old father of five was indeed telling the truth when he made his extra-judicial confession.

Police arrested Llenes in his residence in Barangay Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City last Wednesday, April 10, for the illegal possession of a caliber .45 pistol. The suspect went on to admit to Silawan’s  murder during the police interrogation.

A complaint for the illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm and the violation of the Comelec gun ban was already filed against the suspect late on Wednesday afternoon. /dcb
