Images: Rains not stopping protesters on Labor Day
Cebu City, Philippines—Protesters braved the early morning downpour here for their program on Labor Day on Wednesday, May 1, 2019.
Members of progressive groups like Alyansa ng Manggagawa (Ama)- Sugbu, Kilusang Mayo Uno, Alsa Kontraktwal, Piston, Karapatan, Kabataan Partylist, among others started to convene near the Fuente Osmeña Circle at around 7 a.m. for their mobilization rally. Their march towards Colon Street started shortly past 8 a.m.
Rain started to pour at 9:05 a.m. in downtown Cebu when protesters were already holding their program along Colon Street.
Labor and progressive groups staged protests calling for the implementation of the P750 national minimum wage and end of contractualization.
