Team Bangan and Team Originals defeated separate opponents at the start of the 1st Randall Cup of the HomeBoys Saturday Night Basketball Tournament last Saturday at the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Lower Court.
Team Bangan of brothers Daniel and Noel Caño nipped Team Earl, 69-59, while the Christopher Rey Caruana-led Team Originals prevailed over guest squad Team Knights, 50-44.
Carlo Salinas paced Team Bangan with 21 markers, while Niel Tiempo fired 10 points to lead Team Originals.
The tournament, which is being held in memory of the league’s founder Randall Joseph Prado, will follow a single round robin format in the elimination round. The top two teams after the eliminations will play for the championship.
