Talisay City police still waiting to view crime scene, gun
Two days after the death of the 18-year-old daughter of former Capitol security consultant Byron Garcia, police have yet to see the crime scene and the gun used in the incident.
The Talisay City Police Office which is investigating the death of Gail Mae Anjelou Garcia is waiting for the Garcia family to open their door to investigators so an official inquiry can start.
Gail was rushed to the South General Hospital in Naga City Tuesday evening with a fatal gunshot wound in the head.
In a radio interview Supt. Reycel Dayon, Talisay City police chief, said it was difficult to conclude the death was a suicide since police have no evidence or witnesses.
“Nihangyo ang pamilya nga tagaan sa silag (The family asked that they be given) time to mourn. We will respect that, but it won’t stop us from conducting our own investigation,” Dayon said.
Police started interviewing some neighbors of the Garcias in Corona del Mar Subdivision in barangay Pooc, Talisay City but most of them refused to talk or said they had no idea what happened.
It was a security guard in the South General Hospital who called the Talisay police after the fatally wounded teenager was brought in and was declared dead by an attending physician.
Garcia family members have gathered for a funeral vigil at the Rolling Hills Funeral Homes in Mandaue City.
Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac, Cebu Provincial Police (CPPO) chief, said he was still waiting for an update from the Talisay police.
“I have yet to receive an update of the case from Talisay City police chief Supt. Reycel Dayon. I cannot comment on that,” said Gillamac.
