AN ANTI-CRIME volunteer assisting police in a checkpoint was arrested after he was accused of poking a gun at a motorist in barangay Talamban, Cebu City.

An unlicensed .38 revolver was recovered from Jeneboy Balasabas, a 32-year-old member of the Barangay Intelligence Network.

Balasabas was arrested by operatives of the Talamban Police Station who were with him in the checkpoint on Leyson Street around 10 p.m. last Thursday.

Several motorists were flagged down during the checkpoint. One of them was Dean Mark Lape.

Lape complained that Balasabas poked a gun at him during the inspection. Lape then reported the gun-toting to the police manning the checkpoint.

Operatives of the Cebu City Public Safety Company  also arrested Melchor Ylaya Ejares, 20, for allegedly possessing a .38 cal. revolver in barangay Babag Dos.

Patrolling policemen chanced upon Ejares carrying a gun in sitio Tuyop.
