AEBC Corporate Cup returns on Friday

CEBU CITY, Philippines — Cebu’s most comprehensive ‘professional’ basketball league, the Architects and Engineers Basketball Club (AEBC), will unfold another exciting season of its “Corporate Cup” tomorrow, Friday, March 15, at a new venue in the University of San Carlos (USC) Main Campus gymnasium.
Since 2016, the AEBC has been the avenue for licensed engineers, architects, and board-passer professionals to not just strut their hardcourt skills, but to foster camaraderie and sportsmanship.
Tomorrow, another season unfolds with 12 teams vying for supremacy. The 12 teams will be divided into bracket A and B.
Bracket A will be competed by the defending champions, the Mechanical Engineers-CS4, along with the Mechanical Engineers A-CBM, United Architects of the Philippines-Davis, Civil Engineers 3-Sparko, Civil Engineers 4-Golden Hammer, and Industrial Engineers-Island.
Group B is composed of Civil Engineers 2-Avantrac, United Architects of the Philippines Cebu-Buildrite, Electrical Engineers-Phelps Dodge, Computer Engineers-Fenestram, Civil Engineers 1-EGS, and Civil Engineers 5-Strato.
“From last season’s action, there’s no safe lead in the team standings. Everyone should prepare for a stiff competition throughout the league,” said AEBC president Alan Choachuy during a presser on Thursday.
Present also during the presser were AEBC vice president for operations Jhojo Partosa and vice president for tournament Oliver Tan.
Also present were the team captains of the competing teams and the tournament’s sponsor.
“Mao ni tinuod nga professional basketball league sa ato kay tinud-anay gyud nga licensed ug board exam passers atong manuwaay. We started with six teams, karon 12 teams nami. Ang naka special pa gyud ani nga season mobalik ta sa USC Main gym kung diin didto ni gisudgan ang liga nato in 2016,” Partosa explained.
The opening ceremony tomorrow is at 6 p.m., followed by the presentation of muses and the tournament proper.
