The Visayan Electric Company (Veco) turned over a newly constructed two-classroom building to Tabok Elementary School in Mandaue City yesterday.
The building for preschoolers is a product of Veco’s ‘Silid Pangarap’ partnership with Aboitiz Foundation Inc., AGAPP (Aklat, Gabay, Aruga tungo sa Pag-angat at Pag-asa) Foundation and the Department of Education.

“Today marks another milestone, another proof of action and fruit of collaboration, borne out of the desire to inspire our younger generation to pursue their formal education,” lawyer Owlette Christine Jill Verallo, Veco’s Reputation Enhancement Department head, said during the ceremony.
More than six hundred children will benefit from the new school building worth P1.2 million.
Since 2011, Veco has constructed school buildings with AGAPP Foundation for Cepoc Central School in Naga City, Tayud Elementary School in Liloan, Garing Elementary School in Consolacion, Sangat Elementary School in San Fernando, Maghaway Elementary School in Talisay City and Vito Elementary School in Minglanilla.
Veco builds while AGAPP Foundation, a group headed by presidential sister Pinky Aquino Abellada, trains the teachers.
During the turnover ceremony, Aboitiz Foundation Inc. executive vice president and chief operating officer Augusto Carpio III reminded the parents of their responsibility not only to the children but also in the maintenance of the school building.
