Maribago councilor awarded outstanding barangay official

A BARANGAY councilor of Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City was awarded Outstanding Barangay Official in the category of highly -urbanized cities  in  this year’s search for Outstanding Barangay Officials of the Year.

Maribago barangay councilor Arvin Fiel Abing said he dedicated his award to residents and officials of Maribago  who supported all his projects.

Abing heads the  committee on youth development and committee on education. He had  perfect attendance  in all sessions of the barangay council.

He sponsored the  ordinance regulating  resto-bars and disco bars in the barangay that present indecent shows.

Another ordinance he sponsored offers  free Wi-Fi access to residents, especially youths.

He also conducted regular feeding programs for  children in different sitios as well as house visits to consult residents about their needs.

Using social media, he announced  activities of the barangay, organized the Maribago Red Cross Youth, provided livelihood training to out-of-school youth, actively engaged in the activities of Children’s Legal Bureau, and initiated peace and order measures.

He also conducted drug abuse symposia and organized the Maribago Ayaw sa Droga organization.

The search was jointly organized by the Local Administrative and Development Program Alumni Association of the Philippines Region 7 chapter, Department of Interior and Local Government 7 and the Liga ng mga Barangay of Region 7.

The event was held last Saturday at the Ecotech Center in Lahug, Cebu City.
