GRASSROOTS basketball powerhouse squads Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu and the University of San Carlos (USC) face off for the Division 1 under-12 crown after they hurdled their semifinal opponents in the Cebu Youth Basketball League last weekend at the Ateneo de Cebu gym in Canduman, Mandaue City.

USC turned back the University of the Visayas (UV), 40-29, while Ateneo de Cebu blasted Don Bosco, 78-37, to set up the championship showdown.

In other playoff games, UV bested Don Bosco, 34-22, to advance to the semis of the under-10 division, where it will take on the top seeded Monterey School of Talisay. The other semis pairing will have USC North battling sister squad USC South.

In division 2 matches, Ateneo de Cebu 2 ousted the St. Alphonsus Catholic School (SACS), 71-48, while Ateneo de Cebu 3 took care of UV Mandaue, 98-76, in the under-15 class. USC North B already booked its spot in the Final Four while USC South B and Don Bosco B tangle for the last ticket to the semis.
