RAINS will accompany the opening of classes tomorrow, as thunderstorms are expected to continue within the next five days.
Alfredo Quiblat Jr., weather specialist of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) in Mactan said a thunderstorm advisory was issued for southern Cebu, Metro Cebu and Northern Cebu yesterday.
Students and teachers should be prepared for inclement weather and bring with them umbrellas and raincoats, as weather forecasters predict cloudy to partly cloudy skies with rainfall.
“It will rain anytime of the day,” Quiblat told Cebu Daily News.
The weather bureau recorded 33.2 millimeters of rainfall after it rained from 9:20 a.m. to 10:35 a.m. yesterday.
The heaviest downpour was recorded at 9:20 a.m. to 9:38 a.m., said weather specialist Romeo Aguirre.
Total rainfall recorded as of July 12 is 136.8 millimeters. The normal average of rainfall for July is 183.9 millimeters.
Quiblat said that the rains are caused by the local convective activities with the prevailing southwest monsoon.
So far, there is no major weather disturbance affecting the weather system in the Philippines.
