MANDAUE City Mayor Gabriel Luis “Luigi” Quisumbing said he favors President Rodrigo Duterte’s plan to allow the burial of the late president Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan Ng Mga Bayani.
“Importante gyod kaayo nga (It’s important that) we start to move on from that fractured period in our history,” he said.
Quisumbing said the Marcos burial is necessary in order to “heal the wounds caused by that era.” “We cannot afford to be brought down by the past,” he said.
Militant and civil society groups held a rally at the Plaza Independencia in Cebu City last Sunday protesting Marcos’s burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani and launched a signature drive for this purpose./USJ-R Intern Dafne Wenceslao
