Batch ’97, ’99 topple foes to remain unbeaten

BATCH ’97 and AutoLAB ’99 kept their immaculate records after they came away with dominant victories in Division B of the PLDT SME Nation – Alfredo Gothong 21st SHAABAA Cup Basketball Tournament last Sunday at the Ateneo de Cebu campus in Canduman, Mandaue City.

Cecilio Gillamac and Buck Sia topscored for Batch ’97 as it bested White Gold Club 96 (3-3), 58-50 to capture its sixth straight win.

Gillamac scored 14 while Sia added 13 to help Batch ’97 keep a slim lead in the standings over AutoLAB.

AutoLAB wasted no time in disposing of Core Pacific 2000 (4-2) as it routed the latter, 66-43, to improve its standing to 5-0 (win-loss).

Jan Michael Sarcol and Jeremy Huang had 12 apiece for the winning side, which held its opponents to a combined 13 points in the middle periods to set the stage for the lopsided victory.

In other matches in Division B, Choobi Bay Crab and Shrimp ’91 destroyed ’Batch 95, 81-64, behind the foursome of Theogene Lim, Chad Cañares, Dennis Que and Stanley Ong.

Lim charted 24 points, Que and Canares had 12 each while Ong ended up with 10 to help Choobi Bay push its record to 5-1 while dropping its victims to 2-4, the same as Ngohiong 94, which upended Batch 92 (1-4), 58-52.
