Two barangays in Talisay City and Minglanilla town experienced floods Thursday afternoon.

Gieuly Abatayo, Minglanilla Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, said the areas are flood prone.

Alfredo Quiblat Jr., chief of the Mactan office of the state weather bureau Pagasa, said rain was experienced in southern Cebu earlier.

A thunderstorm warning was issued at 2:30 p.m. of Thursday by Pagasa Mactan for Talisay City, Minglanilla, Naga and San Fernando.

“The rain was caused by localized thunderstorm which lasted for almost two hours,” Quiblat told Cebu Daily News.

The public is advised to bring their own umbrellas and gear as rain will be experienced in the next four days. “It’s sunny in the morning and expect rains in the evening,” he said.

There are four typhoons expected to enter the country for the month of September. The first typhoon for the month was ‘Ferdie’. For the month of September, the normal average of rainfall is 178.2 millimeters.

As of 4 p.m. Thursday, Pagasa Mactan recorded 92 millimeters of rain. So far no gale warning was issued for Central Visayas.
