Pagay, Sorongon top Sto. Niño run

RUFFA Sorongon and her coach Azlan Pagay ruled the 10-kilometer race of the Santo Niño Fun Run 2016 yesterday.

Pagay crossed the finish line at the Plaza Independencia in 38 minutes and three seconds to secure the men’s title while Sorongon clocked 42:41 to win the women’s race.

Ariel Saballa settled for second place in the men’s side with a time of 38:04 while Roche Altizo came in at third, finishing in 50:43.

Sisters Cherry and Lovely Andrin, meanwhile, placed second and third, respectively in the women’s race. The younger Cherry clocked 47:01 while Lovely checked in at 47:10.

The top three in the men’s 5k race were Kenyans James Mebei (16:52), Douglas Mwiti (17:01) and Arnel Florentino (17:29).

Women’s 5k winners were Karen Manayon (20:35), Genezel Saballa (21:00) and Geneda Arquino (21:33).

In the 3k race, champions were Ruel Algufera (09:56) and Lovely Grace Peña (12:01).

The running event was organized by the Basilica Del Santo Niño Augustinians and handled by race director Joel Baring.
