WITH Christmas just around the corner, Governor Hilario Davide III echoed the call for local government units (LGUs) to conduct a community fireworks display to discourage people from lighting firecrackers in residential areas.

Davide said that LGUs should designate a place away from houses for the fireworks display to minimize firecracker-related incidents.

“It would be better if all LGUs would coordinate in designating a single area where people can enjoy the fireworks display and the countdown. It might be expensive, but there are probably many who are willing to sponsor. Firecrackers are really dangerous,” Davide said in Cebuano.
