Cebuano Cuizon makes semis in Andrada Cup

CEBUANO netter Chad Connor Cuizon used his early elimination in the 12-under boys play as a motivation to pull off a lopsided 4-0, 4-0 victory over Joshua Hidalgo and advance to the semifinal round in the 10-unisex division of the 28th Andrada Cup at Malate, Manila.

Earlier in the day, the third-ranked Cuizon was caught by surprise as he kissed his championship hopes goodbye in the 12-under boys, losing to sixth-ranked Exequiel Jucutan, 6-1, 6-1, in the second round.

Cuizon, a nine-year-old netter from Lapu-Lapu City, rebounded from that setback as he blanked his quarterfinal foe in the unisex division.

With the victory, the youngster is set to battle Marielle Jarata in today’s semifinals.
