THE MUCH-awaited rematch between Rodel Wenceslao and Adones Cabalquinto will serve as one of the highlights of the “Davao Boxing Showdown” in the third Games and Amusements Board (GAB) Boxing Convention today at the Marco Polo Hotel in Davao City.
Wenceslao (11-14-1, 4KOs) and Cabalquinto (23-3-0, 15KOs) already clashed last June of 2016 also in Davao City with the latter walking away with a unanimous decision victory.
The 24-year-old Wenceslao fights under Cebu’s Team Joeric Boxing of Joeric Calisang. He weighed in at 145 pounds.
Cabalquinto also made weight for their scheduled 10-round showdown.
Both boxers are looking to snap their losing streaks. Wenceslao lost his previous three fights while Cabalquinto faltered in his last two bouts.
The main event will feature a WBF Inter-continental super flyweight championship bout between former WBO Asia Pacific Youth flyweight champion Jake “D’ Twins” Bornea of the Sanman-Amoy Stable from General Santos City and Renerio Arizala of the Jonathan Penalosa Boxing Stable from Mandaluyong City.
Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) super bantamweight champion Ryan “The Fire Fist” Lumacad of the MP Highland Gym from La Trinidad, Benguet and super flyweight champion Renoel Pael of Wacky Salud Gym of Cebu will clash for the vacant ABF super bantamweight title.
